Carbon Accounting, Scope 1–3

Full organisational carbon accounting per the GHG Protocol. We collect the data, calculate, and deliver the report — you don't need to prepare anything.

What the accounting covers

Scope 1

Direct emissions

Own fuels, vehicles, processes and refrigerants.

Scope 2

Purchased energy

Electricity, district heating, and cooling.

Scope 3

Value chain

15 categories: suppliers, logistics, business travel, product use and disposal.

How NGS does it

Scoping

1–2 weeks

We map your operations structure and data sources.

Data collection

2–4 weeks

We request data from suppliers and challenge the numbers.

Calculation

1–2 weeks

GHG Protocol organisational-level calculation.

Reporting

1 week

Report, calculation files, presentation to management if needed.

A typical project from first meeting to finished report takes 6–10 weeks.

What you get

  • GHG Protocol organisational emissions report
  • Scope 1, 2 and 3 broken down by category
  • Calculation files (Excel) for your own use and audit purposes
  • Methodology documentation
  • Written or verbal clarifications on request
  • Stakeholder or management presentation if needed

Full outsourcing, Scope 3 support, or verification?

Full outsourcing

We handle the entire calculation from data collection to finished report. Suits when there is an external requirement or insufficient internal resources.

Scope 3 support

Scope 1 and 2 are done, but Scope 3 is missing. NGS handles Scope 3 alone or in collaboration with your team.

Verification

Calculation already done internally or elsewhere. NGS provides independent assurance before external use.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need data ready before we start?
No. The scoping phase identifies where data exists and how to collect it. Most companies don't have data ready — that's normal.
How long does a project take?
Typically 6–10 weeks from first meeting to finished report. Timeline depends mostly on data availability in the supply chain.
What is the GHG Protocol?
The GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) is the most widely used standard for organisational emissions accounting. A report based on it is accepted in virtually every context where an emissions report is required.
Is verification required?
Verification is not mandatory but increases credibility, especially in external reporting. We offer verification as a separate service or as part of the same project.
What if we already have a partial calculation?
If Scope 1 and 2 are done, the project can be scoped to Scope 3 only. If there is a prior unverified calculation, we can provide assurance only.
Is the accounting CSRD-compliant?
GHG Protocol accounting forms the basis for the climate report required under CSRD. We handle VSME reporting in the same project if needed.
