Five-year partnership: Bayer's Turku plant carbon accounting year after year
Bayer and NGS have collaborated for several years. GHG Protocol carbon accounting for the Turku plant is part of the global corporation's sustainability reporting.
“NGS has known our operations for years. Accounting runs efficiently, and we trust that the report meets our corporation's requirements.”
Heikki, Bayer Oy, Turku
Bayer is one of the world’s largest life sciences companies, with operations in more than 130 countries. The Turku plant is part of this global corporation, and its emissions reporting must meet international requirements.
Starting point
Carbon accounting for Bayer’s Finnish operations has been NGS’s responsibility for several years. It is an ongoing partnership where accounting is repeated annually and methods remain comparable.
In a global corporation, reporting for a local site must align with the entire corporation’s sustainability reporting requirements. This requires methodological precision and the ability to communicate in the language of international standards.
What was done
NGS has calculated Bayer’s Turku plant GHG Protocol organisational emissions Scope 1–3 year after year. Long-term partnership means processes have been honed to be efficient: the required data is known, suppliers are familiar, and the report structure is established.
The accounting integrates into Bayer’s global sustainability reporting and fulfils the corporation’s internal and external reporting requirements.
Result
Five years of partnership has produced a comparable time series of the Turku plant’s emissions. Bayer has a reliable, repeatable process and a partner who knows their operations.
