Client story
A chemical distributor's footprint was smaller than expected, but precise data now guides action
Bang & Bonsomer set a carbon neutrality target for 2025 and received accounting from NGS that revealed a surprising result: the footprint was smaller than anticipated.
“NGS made a complex process easy and clear, and their reports have been valuable for future planning.”
Zoya Mäkeläinen, Compliance & Quality Manager, Bang & Bonsomer
Bang & Bonsomer is a Nordic distributor of chemicals and specialty raw materials, operating in the value chains of multiple industrial sectors. In a complex distribution network, carbon accounting is not a straightforward task: it requires expertise in modelling supply chains.
Starting point
Bang & Bonsomer set a clear sustainability goal: carbon neutrality by 2025. Achieving that goal required knowing where emissions actually come from, especially for Scope 3 emissions from the extensive distribution network.
The project began with the need for accounting that could be relied upon in compliance reporting and future planning.
What was done
NGS calculated Bang & Bonsomer’s GHG Protocol organisational carbon footprint Scope 1–3. Special attention was paid to transport and logistics, which are of great significance to a distribution company.
The accounting produced a surprising result: the carbon footprint turned out to be smaller than expected. This doesn’t mean the work is done, but it directs resources to the right reduction actions rather than imaginary ones.
Result
Bang & Bonsomer received a reliable baseline for tracking their carbon neutrality goal. The report has been valuable both for internal planning and for external compliance reporting.
